Election Recommendations for November 7, 2023

"It is an honor to again submit my voting records for November 7, 2023"

Senator, Dave Schultheis

Know that I have studied each issue carefully and submit my recommendations for consideration.

Proposition HH, according to the Ballot Information Booklet indicates that HH Reduce Property Taxes and Retain State Revenue.

VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION H H

  1. Know that the Legislature voted to place this on the ballot.  It was NOT a Citizen Initiative.
  2. Know that the majority of legislators hold extremely progressive views.
  3. Know that the majority of legislators see no reason to reduce income to the state.
  4. Know that the majority of the legislators are more than anxious to unravel TABOR, that is ingrained in Colorado's constitution for the purpose of limiting government spending and returning any surplus to the voters.
  5. Know that HH is crafted to begin reducing TABOR refunds after 2023 and to eventually increase state spending beyond what TABOR would allow.
  6. HH Will allow as much as $20 million taxpayer dollars to be reallocated to rental assistance.  This is a major socialist grab from hard-working taxpayers that negatively impacts the free market in rental housing costs.
  7. HH allows for hundreds of millions of dollars to be transferred to the State Education Fund from revenue retained under the Proposition HH cap.

II Retain Nicotine Tax Revenues

VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION  L L

Let's keep Government's hands out of our pocket.

IN 2020, Taxpayers approved tax rates on tobacco and nicotine products.  The estimated income from the sales of these products exceeded the estimate by $23.65 million. NOW the state wants to use that to pay for the "FREE" pre-school programs with those funds.

MORAL statement:  The Pre-K program is one more school program that is lessening the important traditional  role of the mother reducing time she can spend nurturing her child.  As Karl Marx was quoted: "The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without their mother's care shall be in state educations" Are we ready to encourage the mothers to give up their children at the early age of four so that they can receive government indoctrination beginning at that early age?  The Colorado's Democrat Speaker of the House, Julie McCluskie thinks so.

El Paso County Ballot Issues

City of Colorado Springs Ballot 2A

Vote NO on 2A

It seems as if at every election cycle, voters are asked for excess funds to pay for roads, police and fire department issues. Why?  It's because they are the most emotional issues that resonate with voters when, in fact, they should be among governments' first priorities.  With the growing population in the city, more focus should be applied to having the developers pick up funds for police and fire protection and facilities.  Until there is more attention to proper budgeting priorities, maybe taxpayers should hold their votes. Prioritizing never seriously happens until government has less taxpayer funds than it wants.

School District Ballot Issues

Before voting for increased taxes to support the public school system, consider these issues:

  1.  Is the district really needing more funding for qualified teachers, or are they losing qualified teachers because traditional academics seem to be given less attention than Social, Emotional Learning, Pronouns, Gender-Affirming policies, Curriculum Transparency, Compressive Sex Education, Racial concerns, limitations on religious expression,  and hiding gender issues from parents?
  2. Most districts have a low percentage meeting expectations.
  3. Is the district meeting parent expectations of dealing with pornographic books in the school library.  Check this.  Also THIS Gazette Editorial. While this list is only for D20 schools, such books have found their way to public schools in other districts across the nation.
  4. Read this before putting more money into K-12 school districts

School Board-Candidate Elections

I have personally spent a minimum of three hours with many of these school board candidates, assessing their dedication to making significant, positive changes to the public school system struggling with a multitude of issues.  It is well past time for school board directors to focus on what parents expect to be taught to their children.  School board directors must understand that they are working for the parents who trust their children to the public school districts.
